Slapping self in hopes of landing a blow on another…

Slapping self in hopes of landing a blow on another…

This has to be a monumental error of judgement and a completely unnecessary self inflicted embarrassment of the BJP in 2019 Maharashtra.
The BJP had gained a massive sympathy among the voters when it initially refused to form the government after election results. The public was overwhelmingly angry with shiv sena and wanted to punish them. Even the most die hard BJP haters were acknowledging the sympathy wave in favor of BJP.
Then, all of a sudden, the BJP made a monumental error of judgement screwed up this public sympathy by taking undue risk and failing badly.
Regardless what may have caused this, the damage is done and the consequences in cricketing terms are:

  1. BJP was cruising at a prospective 360/0 on the first day first innings, and then fell to 260/2 in 80 overs. They could have still salvaged this as a great first day score, but took undue risk to score heavy in the last 10 overs. BJP lost precious extra wicket with no runs added.
  2. Now the BJP has 260/3, with all the top three batsmen out and with Jharkhand it looks like at the end first day, the score would look like 270/4. That’s a big fall from where they were just in October 2019.
  3. BJP most likely will fail in New Delhi elections and would still be junior partner in Bihar to JDU, regardless of the numbers. So by the end of second day I see, BJP at 350 - 380 all-out.
  4. So chances of innings victory for BJP have substantially gone down. BJP will have to bowl out of their skin to even hold on to a lead in first innings now. The pitch has eased out for the opposition and they have the bowlers to make use of the surface. BJP’s second innings batting is even more important now.
  5. INC splitting now is indefinitely postponed and the left-liberal ecosystem will stop decaying further, till INC suffers another humiliating loss.
  6. The economic impact of loosing Maharashtra by the BJP will be enormous on economic growth prospects. It’s like losing Virat Kohli for duck.

I still pray and hope the BJP does (I am repeating this):

1.       Fix the communication department in both center and state levels. Make the deviant anti BJP MSM fall in line by using covert actions.
2.       Revive the economy (my previous blogs have most of the solutions); the law of diminishing results will catch up in the external Pakistan threat narrative. Good economy is always an evergreen narrative and everyone is impacted.
3.       For Gods sake, please be pragmatic and ruthless in ticket distribution. Winability should be the only criteria.
